ONGOING RESEARCH PROJECTS
GEOTRACES
(Pacific ocean)
GEOTRACES is an international research program investigating the distribution and cycling of trace elements and their isotopes. During the GP-15 transect, we investigated the distribution of Si isotopes in the North Pacific and attempted to resolve the high Si concentration anomaly in the North Pacific.
The BLOB
(California Current)
The Blob was a large marine heatwave disrupting marine ecosystems off the coast of North America between late 2013 and the end of 2015. Using silicon radioisotope measurements we studied how the Blob affected diatom production in one of the major eastern boundary upwelling system along the coast of California.
SNOWBIRDS
(Southern Ocean)
The SNOWBIRDS project is the result of a collaborative effort between two labs from the American east and west coasts that aims to improve reconstructions of the surface nitrogen (N) and silicon (Si) nutrient contents, based on N and Si isotope proxies, across the Southern Ocean.
OUTREACH and FUN
At the interface of science, art and education, I believe that outreach is a way to enhance curiosity, creativity and motivation, for the public but also for myself. I present here programs or more personal activities I do to share science and art, that surprisingly always involved some sort of silica somewhere...
This effort to engage as many people as possible in the fields that passionate me is a way for me to bring together communities, raise awareness and improve our collective understanding of the ever changing world in which we live.
